The total price exceeds 7 billion yuan Byte jumping to Nvidia to order GPU
[GlobeNewswire] June 14, 2012 - With the rapid development of large models of artificial intelligence, major domestic Internet companies with cloud computing businesses have made large orders to Nvidia for purchases. Among them, Byte has ordered more than $1 billion (about 7 billion yuan) of GPU products from NVIDIA this year.
According to industry sources familiar with the matter, Byte Jump has now purchased 100,000 A100 and H800 accelerator cards, of which the H800 only started production in March this year. At present, Byte Jump's purchases this year alone are close to the total sales of commercial GPUs sold by Nvidia in China last year.
The source said that large companies such as Byte and Ali mainly negotiate purchases directly with Nvidia, as agents and the secondary market have difficulty meeting their huge demand, while Nvidia will offer discounts at catalogue prices, depending on the size of the purchase.
The A100 is currently listed on Nvidia's website at $10,000, or about RMB71,500, and the H100 at $36,000, or about RMB257,000, while the A800 and H800, which were launched for the Chinese market last year, are slightly lower, but will certainly be sold at a higher price due to short supply and demand.
