Foreign media: AMD announces new MI300X chip
GlobeNewswire reported on June 15 that AMD has announced its upcoming AI chip MI300X, which can speed up the processing of generative artificial intelligence used by chatbots, according to foreign media reports.
It is reported that this chip can support 192GB of memory, while Nvidia's H100 chip only supports 120GB of memory. Foreign media said that Nvidia's dominant position in the relevant market may be challenged.
AMD's chief executive officer, Su Zifeng, said that as models get larger, more GPUs are needed to run the latest big language models, and with the increase in memory on AMD chips, developers will no longer need as many numbers of GPUs.
In addition to the MI300X chip, AMD has also announced the MI300A chip. According to the report, the MI300A chip has already achieved small volume shipments.
